Program Information
Curriculum overview
The curriculum is what we do on a day to day basis to develop a program over the year. We cover the curriculum areas of Social Studies, Creative Arts and Crafts, Science, Music and Movement Education and Literature. Children learn through their five senses by manipulating materials. Play might seem like entertainment to us, but to the children it is education. When you see your child actively involved in play they are learning important skills and growing physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. Play teaches children things like pre-math skills, colors and shapes, role play, sharing and cooperation, problem solving and preprinting skills.
Age
Children who will be turning 3 years of age between September 1st and December 31st will be allowed to begin school in September or anytime thereafter. Children who turn 3 years between January 1 and March 31 may begin in January or anytime thereafter until April 1. All children must be toilet trained. Contact Interlake Nursery School for more information.
Inclusion
We will make every effort to accomodate children with additional support needs and to give all the children the opportunity to develop physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually to their fullest potential. It is our goal that the nursery school environment be comfortable and home-like for all of the children in our care in order to ease the transition from home to child care and to promote continutity.
